Let Us Acknowledge

As we embark on our journey of learning and sharing through this online platform, we begin by acknowledging with deep respect the diverse Indigenous peoples of what is now known as Canada. We recognize the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples, and their enduring relationship with their traditional territories across these lands.

From coast to coast to coast, each region of Canada is the ancestral and unceded territory of distinct Indigenous nations. These lands have been inhabited by Indigenous peoples from time immemorial, and we are grateful for the opportunity to meet and learn in these territories, even in a virtual space.

This acknowledgment is a step towards recognizing the histories, cultures, and rights of Indigenous peoples in Canada. It is also a commitment from us, as a platform dedicated to 2SLGBTQI+ cultural competency in healthcare, to engage in continuous learning about the histories, cultures, and perspectives of Indigenous peoples.

We understand the importance of reconciliation and are committed to participating in this process by incorporating Indigenous knowledge and perspectives into our work. We strive to foster an inclusive and respectful environment that acknowledges and celebrates the diversity of the Indigenous peoples of Canada, and their contributions to our shared healthcare landscape.
